UNGUT YOUTH CENTER

The Üngüt Youth Center is a planned project in Kahramanmaraş that aims to offer a public vision by incorporating the neighboring city park. The project aims to bring together the youth population and other city residents. With a fundamental understanding that space is not merely a physical area, the youth center and city park aim to function as integral parts of social interaction, cultural accumulation, and community context. In this context, the youth center is designed to be a space that supports the creativity of young people, increases social interaction, and facilitates integration with other age groups within the city.

Integration of the Youth Center and City Park

The main idea of ​​the project is to consider the youth center as an extension of the city park. This integration involves connecting the youth center to the park via a public street within the center, without obstructing the park’s entrance. Designed using the natural slopes of the land, the youth center harmonizes with the city park while simultaneously becoming a symbol of the park. The transparent exterior integrates the interior with the outside world and extends the activities within the youth center outdoors. This design positions the youth center and city park not merely as physical spaces, but as dynamic structures interacting with their surroundings. The project, when successfully implemented, will make significant contributions by enriching urban life in social, cultural, and educational aspects.

Upper Ground Floor Program

The restaurant located on the upper floors will be a meeting point for young people and city residents. Large windows and terraces bring the surrounding views inside, emphasizing the commanding view of the city and park. The library is designed to be located on the upper floors, overlooking the park. Transparent glass walls allow for ample use of natural light while aiming to bring the park view inside. Co-working spaces are arranged to offer a dynamic and creative environment, integrated with the city and park views through large windows and terraces.

Lower Ground Floor Program

The multi-purpose hall, workshops, and laboratories located on the lower floors encourage the participation of young people in artistic and scientific activities. Interacting with the street connecting to the park, the multi-purpose hall is designed to host various events. Workshop areas encourage participation in artistic and craft-oriented activities, while modular stage arrangements and large windows aim to provide an environment suitable to the needs of users.

Sustainability and Environmental Awareness

The project will take the lead in environmental awareness based on sustainability principles. Green energy sources, energy efficiency, and recyclable materials will be integrated to minimize the project’s environmental impact. This design outlines a comprehensive design for the youth center and city park, and detailed plans and drawings are attached.
